Fire Safety & Compliance

Safe people make good garments

Every order we ship is made by people who go home safe. This page lists the fire safety checks we run at our Dhaka factory and the codes we work to, so you can see what stands behind your production.

Safety Checklist

What we check, area by area

Each item below is part of our routine safety programme.

Detection & Alarm

Catching a fire early, and making sure everyone on the floor hears about it.

  • Fire detection and alarm system — in place

Smoke and heat detection across production, cutting, storage and packing areas.

  • Manual call points — in place

Clearly marked break-glass alarm points on every floor, reachable from every work area.

  • Alarm testing — in place

Alarm and detector testing on a fixed schedule, with results written to the maintenance log.

Firefighting Equipment

Equipment that is in the right place, serviced, and ready to use.

  • Portable fire extinguishers — in place

Correct extinguisher types mounted at marked points, tagged and serviced on schedule.

  • Hydrants and hose reels — in place

Water supply, hose reels and hydrant points inspected and kept clear of obstruction.

  • Fire-fighting water reserve — in place

Dedicated water reserve and pump arrangement checked as part of routine inspections.

Exits & Evacuation

Every worker can leave the building quickly, from every part of the floor.

  • Unobstructed, unlocked exits — in place

Exit doors open outward and stay unlocked during shifts. Aisles and stairways are never used for storage.

  • Exit signage and emergency lighting — in place

Illuminated exit signs and battery-backed emergency lighting along escape routes.

  • Posted evacuation plans — in place

Floor plans showing escape routes and assembly points displayed on every floor.

  • Assembly points and headcount — in place

Designated assembly areas away from the building, with a headcount procedure for each shift.

Electrical & Fire Hazards

Garment factories carry lint, fabric and electrical load. We control all three.

  • Electrical inspection — in place

Wiring, panels, machine connections and load checked by qualified personnel, with faults logged and fixed.

  • Lint and fabric waste control — in place

Regular clearing of lint, offcuts and packaging waste from machines, floors and storage.

  • Flammable and chemical storage — in place

Chemicals and flammable materials stored separately, labelled and away from ignition sources.

  • No-smoking and hot-work control — in place

Enforced no-smoking policy, and controlled approval for any welding or other hot work.

People, Drills & Training

Equipment only helps if people know what to do.

  • Fire safety induction — in place

Every new worker is briefed on alarms, exits and assembly points before starting work.

  • Evacuation drills — in place

Scheduled drills covering all shifts, with timings and observations recorded.

  • Trained fire response team — in place

Staff trained in firefighting and first aid, with named fire wardens for each floor.

  • Worker safety reporting channel — in place

Workers can raise a safety concern without fear of retaliation, and each concern is tracked to closure.

Building & Records

A sound building, and a paper trail that proves it.

  • Structural soundness — in place

Building structure assessed by a qualified engineer, with floor loads respected.

  • Maintenance and inspection logs — in place

Inspections, tests and repairs recorded and kept available for audit.

  • Corrective action tracking — in place

Audit findings are logged with an owner and a due date, and checked again once closed.

  • Third-party audit access — in place

Buyer and independent auditors can inspect the facility and its safety records.

Codes & Standards

The rules we work to

Local law comes first. International standards set the benchmark for how we test and maintain equipment.

Emergency Response

If the alarm sounds

Every worker is trained on the same four steps.

  1. 01

    Detect

Detectors, call points or a worker raise the alarm. The alarm sounds on every floor.

  2. 02

    Alert

Floor wardens confirm the alarm, call the fire service and cut power to affected machinery.

  3. 03

    Evacuate

Workers leave by the nearest marked exit and go to their assembly point. No one goes back for belongings.

  4. 04

    Account

Wardens complete the headcount, report anyone missing and hand over to the fire service.
